Stack Em Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

Stack 'Em is the volatile follow-up slot to the Hacksaw Gaming debut title, Stick ‘Em, and it plays out on a 5x6 cluster pays engine grid. The base game is all about building stacked winning symbol reel multipliers, as cascades remove non-winning symbols. The bonus round comes with a global multiplier that increases per winning symbol, and with the special ‘X’ symbol in the right place, you can win up to 10,000x your stake.

Stack Em Review

Hacksaw Gaming has certainly come a long way since their humble beginnings as a scratch card developer. With Stack ‘Em, they’ve decided to follow up on their slot debut about Canny the Can, simply called Stick 'Em. Comparing the two, it becomes glaringly obvious that Hacksaw has made great strides in their evolutionary journey, and they are now a fully fledged slot developer gaining more and more mainstream recognition.

The idyllic countryside visuals, as well as the charming Canny the Can character (and his friend, Mona the Mouse), should fool no one. This game can be quite brutal in its volatility, and larger payouts tend to come in sudden spikes seemingly out of nowhere. The core concepts of Stack 'Em are more innovative than in the original title, and overall this follow-up release is vastly superior. This goes for the math model, as well as the gameplay in general.

Stack 'Em slot Features

The wild symbol can land anywhere, and it steps in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combinations. When you land a winning cluster of 5 to 25+ matching symbols in the base game, all non-winning symbols are removed from the grid.

Stack Em Slot Gameplay

A fresh batch of symbols drop down from above, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning.

The retained stacks of winning symbols generate a multiplier below each reel, and the respective reel multiplier values are equal to the number of symbols stacked on each reel. You can keep track of this directly below the reels, and a full reel awards a 6x multiplier. All reel multipliers involved in a win are added together up to 30x (6x+6x+6x+6x+6x) at the most, and you start all over again on each new spin.

The Bonus Round is triggered when you land 3 scatters anywhere in sight during the same cascading sequence. This gives you 5 free spins for starters, displayed as hearts above the grid. A progressive global multiplier is also on display above the reels, and it increases by a number equal to the number of winning symbols in each cluster you land (a 5 symbols cluster win adds +5 to the multiplier, for example).

The bonus round introduces 2 new special symbols, and they work as follows:

  • ‘X’ symbol – winning clusters need to be adjacent to the ‘X’ symbol in order for the winning sum to be boosted by the current global multiplier.
  • ‘?’ symbol – does 1 of 3 things.

It either tops up your free spins tally with +2 to +5 hearts, or it adds +1 to +50 to the global multiplier. It can also multiply the current multiplier by x2, x3, x4 or x5.

Impatient players, or players who prefer a quick go at the main feature, can purchase the bonus round directly. This will set you back 129x your stake, and, as usual, the bonus buy option is not available for UK players.

The 200 Spins Stack 'Em slot Experience

You’ll get a good sense of how the symbol stacking reel multiplier concept plays out, if you take time to watch this 2-and-a-half minute highlights video. We include a pretty decent cascading session, before we purchase the bonus round at the 1-minute mark. Check it all out for yourself by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

Hacksaw releases are always refreshingly different from the run-of-the-mill titles we see all the time, and they stick out with their simplistic charm and unique visual style. Stack 'Em might be a follow-up to their slot debut, Stick ‘Em, but the features and the math model can hardly compare. Visually, the game has been greatly improved also, and the 10,000x potential is almost 5x what’s on offer in the original game.

The symbol stacking reel multiplier can lead to solid payouts up to 6,000x in the base game, and Hacksaw’s progressive bonus round multiplier twist creates an unusual dynamic. It’s not all that hard to rack up a pretty solid above-100x-multiplier, but it can be frustrating when the ‘X’ symbol doesn’t play ball.

The number of free spins can run out quickly also, but out-of-the-blue payouts up to 10,000x your stake can suddenly hit when you least expect it.

Pros

  • Cascades remove non-winning symbols
  • Stacked winning symbols reel multiplier
  • Bonus round w/ increasing multiplier
  • Win up to 10,000x your stake

Cons

  • Bonus round multiplier dependent on ‘X’ symbol
  • 5 free spins can be over quickly, less you get extra spins

If you appreciate Stack 'Em slot you should also try:

Stick 'Em - represented a milestone in Hacksaw’s development, as this was the previous scratch cards developer’s first ever online slot release. It comes with sticky symbol respins, wheel of fortune bonus with up to 1,000x prizes, as well as a bonus round where you can win up to 2,048x your stake.

Frutz - is another visually stylish slot from Hacksaw, and it plays out on a 5x5 cluster pays and cascading reels grid. 3 different mystery multiplier symbols will boost the global multiplier, and the multiplier never resets in the bonus round. This can lead to payouts up to 10,000x your stake.

Forest Fortune - is another cluster pays engine Hacksaw creation that stands out from most slots. The wind blows in different directions all the time, and this determines which way the wild clones itself. The streak respins bonus round comes with 4 modifier symbols, and you can win up to 10,000x your stake, or a jackpot worth €3 million.
