Platipus are among the more experienced studios out there, and they apparently decided to take a closer look at the “Book of” niche with Book of Light. There’s no shortage of “Book of” slots on the market, and many of them feel ridiculously similar, but, fortunately, that’s not the case with Book of Light. This slot adds a few fresh bits to the classic formula, and we should start by mentioning that even its playing field is unorthodox. It has 5 reels, 5 rows and the Cluster Pays system, which means that your goal is to find Clusters of 3 or more matching symbols. There aren’t any Cascading Wins, however.

The Book of Light utilizes a fairly standard Egyptian theme, but its visuals are slick and full of nice animations. We especially have to highlight the game’s animated background, which shows a landscape with statues and decrepit buildings.

The volatility of Book of Light is high, but the slot’s jackpot is very fair at 5,100x your bet. The game’s betting range caters to essentially all players, as it goes from £1 to £100.

Book of Light Slot Features

There are 9 pay symbols in Book of Light, and they are divided into 5 low pays and 4 high pays. For low pays, there are card ranks from Tens to Aces, while you can look forward to scarabs, eyes, golden masks and adventurers for high pays.

In terms of specials, Book of Light stays true to the “Book of” tradition, and it offers just Book symbols that work as both Wilds and Scatters. That means that they can not only substitute for other symbols in combos, but also trigger free spins.

Land 3 or more Book symbols to trigger the Free Spins feature with 10 free spins. As is the tradition for “Book of” slots, free spins in Book of Light come with Expanding symbols. One symbol is chosen at random before the feature begins, and all its instances work as Expanding during it.

Players can also use the Feature Buy option and get to the Free Spins feature that way. Doing so costs 70x one’s bet, and it actually decreases the slot’s RTP to just 94%, so it’s not a good deal at all.

Review Summary

Book of Light is a “Book of” slot that adds the Cluster Pays system to the proven formula. It also looks better than most slots from the niche, and that is true despite its standard Egyptian theme. That’s all great, but we don’t enjoy the slot’s 95% RTP that gets even lower if you decide to use the Feature Buy option.
