Deal or No Deal Lightning Spins Review
Blueprint has released numerous games based around this popular TV show already, but they are not about to stop just yet, it seems. With Deal or no Deal Lightning Spins slot they actually take it up a notch, and offer an insane 50,000x max win which effectively dethrones their own Megaways version when it comes to potential. The bonus game is still all about making a deal with the banker or not, but this game comes with a brand new Lightning Spins feature also.
In the game show the contestant would choose between 22 boxes with cash values up to £250,000 (same as the capped max win in this game), but they never knew how much they had in their box. By picking boxes the contestant eliminates the sums his/her box will not contain, which is why it’s tempting to take the Banker’s recurring offer to buy the box for a considerable sum of money. This is more or less how the bonus game plays out here too, except you can also win Lightning Spins via the feature.
In addition, you can win 4 different fixed jackpots via the Lightning Spins free spins round, the biggest one being 1,000x your stake. The game plays out in a TV studio setting, and visually it looks like a smaller version of the megaways game. It comes with 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines, and you can place bets between 20p and £100 per spin across all platforms and devices. It’s hard to tell if this game is better or worse than the Megaways version, and perhaps it's best to try both and find out for yourself what you prefer.

What are the bonus features?
There is plenty to cover in this game, and we’ll start with the most basic stuff and work our way up the food chain.
The wild symbol comes with a red frame and background, and the word wild spelled in bold golden type in front. It will step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos, and it can also land “super stacked”, which basically means that it can land in stacks. The wild is also the highest paying symbol in this game, and pays 50x your total stake for 5 on a payline.
The black banker telephone is the scatter symbol, and you need to land 3 anywhere on the screen to trigger the Deal or No Deal Bonus Game. You will also get a scatter win of either 1.25x, 10x or 20x when you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters, respectively. The scatter symbol can only land on reels 1, 3 and 5.
In the Deal or No Deal bonus game you’ll see a cash prize column on the left-hand side and a free spins column on the right-hand side.
In the middle there are 22 red mystery boxes to pick from, and you get to pick 3 for each round. The mystery boxes reveal either cash prizes or free spins (Lightning Spins). You can click the black banker phone to make the game automatically choose 3 boxes for you, and each pick takes away one of the listed cash prizes or free spins values from the respective columns. The banker calls after every 3 pick rounds to make you an offer, and you can either take the deal or keep going until the end.
If you don’t take the deal you will keep picking until your final random box prize is revealed. If you take the deal, you might also get Lightning spins from the Banker in addition to the cash offer. If you refuse all deals however, you can trigger a special gold version of the standard Lightning bonus round. More about that below.
Free spins in Deal or no Deal Lightning SpinsThe Lightning Spins bonus round can be triggered from the Deal or No Deal bonus game, or it can be triggered by landing at least 6 white-background, red-framed lightning spin symbols in the base game with a cash prize in golden type in the middle.
The triggering cash value scatter symbols will now become sticky on the reels, and you can land only blanks, cash symbols or jackpot symbols during the free spins feature. You start out with 3 free spins, and the tally is reset to 3 again whenever you land at least 1 non-blank symbol.
If you land the Mini, Major or Mega symbol in view, you will win the corresponding fixed jackpot of either 30x, 100x or 500x your stake. If you manage to fill the whole screen with nothing but cash symbols you win the Jackpot of 1,000x your stake.
The Lightning Spin bonus round is over when you run out of spins, or fill the screen with cash symbols. But wait, there is also a Lightning Spins Gold bonus round, and you get this by revealing the Lightning Spin Gold symbol in the final box when you take the Deal or No Deal bonus game all the way to the end. You get 3 gold free spins, and it plays out much the same as the regular Lightning round.
However, you are now guaranteed mystery cash symbols on every reel on each spin, and the symbols don’t become sticky. Instead you collect all cash and move on to the next spin, and after 3 spins the round is over (the mini, major and mega jackpot can also be won here).
How to play
The interface of Deal or no Deal Lightning Spins is simple enough, and it doesn’t take too long to get an overview. However, the gameplay might sound a bit complicated from the above, but we can promise you that it’s quite easy to get into once you get started. We will walk you through the essentials of how to play this game here, and get you on your way in no-time.
You can start by clicking the hamburger menu down to the left, as this opens up all the game menus for you. The paytable is the grid icon, and it takes you right into the symbol values screen.
The paytable is static, which means it does not update itself according to your chosen bet level. It shows how much you win per line bet, which means you will have to divide the respective symbol values by the fixed number of paylines (20 in this case) to see how much you win per total stake. The 3 regular premium symbols pay between 15x and 7.5x your stake, and you also have the standard lower value royals in play here.
Deal or No Deal Lightning SpinsYou can scroll further through the slides to see the different bonus features illustrated, and the final slide gives you a visual overview of all the 20 ways to win. All the formal information about this game is found via the . icon, and here you can also read about the different bonus features in more detail.
You can toggle on/off the game sound via the speaker icon, and unfortunately there is no way to keep the sound effects and turn off the music. You can then choose your bet level between 20p and £100 per spin, and set up the autoplay feature with between 10 and 100 autospins. This is done via the circular arrow icon below the spin button, and you can also choose a win and loss limit to stop the feature as you see fit.

The 200 Spins Deal or no Deal Lightning Spins Experience
We had already played Blueprint’s Megaways version of this game quite a lot before this Lightning Spins version dumped down on our proverbial desk. For this reason we knew more or less what this was about, although the features are a bit different here. We looked very much forward to see what this game had to offer, and got started with 2 credits per spin in our 200 spins test session.
The pace of the game is quite okay, and you can stop the spins short by clicking again or holding down the spacebar. It’s a bit annoying that there is no fast play option to do this automatically however, and the game is generally rather stripped of most settings except the autoplay option.
We landed an okay wild win of around 5x our stake after a few initial dead spins, and the session was definitely on now. We kept going for a good while with only a mix of dead spins and minute wins, landed another okay win of 8.75x after a Lightning Spin teaser spin had us on edge for a while. Again, wilds were involved, and you get quite a lot of them in this game, it seems.
After a few more Lightning Spins teasers, we finally landed the minimum of 6 Lightning Spins scatters we needed to trigger the bonus round. We already had a 58 credit win in our pocket from the get-go, and were eager to see how far we could take this. We landed only a few more symbols on the first spin, and then 3 dead spins effectively ended our feature. We won 38x our stake in the end, which was a bit of a downer to be honest.
The game called it a “nice win”, and at least they didn’t add insult to injury by calling it a “big win”. We never got to see the Deal or No Deal bonus game in our 200 spins session, which was a bit sad, but we will probably be back for more on another occasion. Our session was somewhat entertaining, but the volatility burned us this time.
Review Summary
When Blueprint decided to make another Deal or No Deal slot, in addition to their popular Megaways version, it begs the question: How do you top a steroid-injected Megaways monster with a regular slot. Blueprint has the answer, of course, and it’s a simple one too. You give the regular slot a 5x higher potential. Yes, that’s right, you can win up to 50,000x your stake here compared to 10,000x on the Megaways version, but both slots have a capped max win of £250,000.
The Deal or No Deal bonus game only comes in 1 version here, compared to 3 tiers in the Megaways version, but it plays out pretty much the same. The Lightning Spins feature is brand new however, and a somewhat original take on a regular bonus round. Instead of a progressive jackpot you have 4 fixed jackpots you can win here, and this also leads to a more favorable RTP of 96 %. The medium to high volatility remains the same, so which of the 2 games you prefer is really up to personal preference.
Pros
- Deal or No Deal bonus game
- Lightning Spins bonus round
- 4 fixed jackpots up to 1,000x
- Medium to high volatility and 50,000x max win potential
Cons
- Max win capped at £250,000
