Ted Megaways Review
Blueprint is back with yet another Ted adventure, and this time the foul-mouthed, stuffed bear has been given the megaways treatment. It was only a question of time before this had to happen, and needless to say, a lot of anticipation has been built up for this release. Usually, a healthy dose of megaways steroids entails that all departments of the game have been beefed up with extra meat on the bone. However, this is far from the case with Ted Megaways slot, unfortunately.
Naturally, it’s not exactly an easy task to surpass the original Ted game when it comes to bonus features. That game is just overloaded with features already, so instead Blueprint has decided to play it somewhat safe with their Megaways version. The 3D animated Ted is mostly sitting to the left-hand side with his “Ted beer”, and his vocabulary of jibes and witty remarks is definitely limited compared to the first game. He only springs to life once in a while to fire his gun, which gives you mystery symbols, but other than that he’s fairly passive here.
This might disappoint fans of the original game, as we can imagine that many expected perhaps more antics from the megaways version, not far less. We certainly did, and we cannot say that we are not a bit disappointed that Blueprint has basically made a reskin of Return of Kong Megaways. The bonus round is really the only thing that saves the day here, as it comes with a 50,000x your stake potential. However, casual players and fans of the movie should probably stick to the original game, as it’s far more entertaining than this rather formulaic megaways version.

What are the bonus features?
It’s a bit unusual that the megaways version of a game is toning things down when it comes to the bonus features, but this is exactly what Blueprint has done with Ted Megaways slot. Instead of overwhelming you with features like the original game did, Blueprint has gone back to the basics with this one. It comes with fairly standard megaways engine features that you’ll be familiar with from other Blueprint titles.
The cascading wins feature makes sure that winning symbols are removed from the reels, and new symbols will drop down from above.
This gives you new potential winning chances every time you win, and prolongs each winning streak without any extra expenses on your part. The process only stops when you do not land a winning combination anymore. You can also land Mystery symbols randomly at any given spin here, and you’ll then see the 3D animated Ted fire at the reels with his ray gun. This adds up to 100 lightning bolt mystery symbols to reelstrips for the next spin, and these symbols transform into matching symbols whenever they land. This can lead to a new payout calculation if you win, and prolong your cascading wins at least one more round.
Free spins in Ted MegawaysYou need to land at least 4 scatters on the same spin to trigger the Thunder Buddies Free Spins bonus round in this game. This feat will grant you 12 free spins to start out with. Before the bonus round starts however, you have a chance to gamble for more spins and a minimum megaways limit. This is done via the Thunder Wheel of Fortune, and it’s totally optional.
The downside is that you risk getting less than the 12 spins you already have in your pocket, so this gamble feature might not be the best of ideas. You’ll benefit from a progressive win multiplier that increases with +1 for every win/cascade, and it does not reset on non-winning spins either.
There is no upper limit to this multiplier, and this is why it’s called an Unlimited Win Multiplier. There is a Ted symbol meter down to the left, and you will collect Ted symbols into this meter every time you land one one the reels. When you have collected 3 Ted symbols, you get 2 extra spins added to your tally. In addition, you will climb up the minimum guaranteed megaways scale. Going all the way to the top will make sure that you’ll benefit from the maximum of 117,649 ways to win on every single free spin.
You can also opt to buy the bonus round via the Mystery bonus bet feature, but this is not available for UK players. You will then get to spin the Thunder Wheel for 150x your stake, and a random number of spins and minimum megaways are awarded to you via this bonus wheel.
How to play
If you’re familiar with the Blueprint game interface and their previous megaways engine games, you will have no problem getting right into the swing of things with Ted Megaways. Players with less experience might benefit from reading this section somewhat thoroughly, while experienced punters might wanna skip to the next part.
The game comes with 6 regular reels and 1 horizontal top reel.
The regular reels can land with between 2 and 7 symbols on every spin. If all 6 reels land with 7 symbols, you will play with the maximum number of paylines which is 117,649 megaways. The horizontal top reel always loads in 4 symbols however, and it effectively adds an extra symbol to reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.The Ted wild symbol can only land on the horizontal top reel, and he will step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. You win by landing at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, and you can win with more than one set of symbols on each spin. Click the bank note symbol to set your bet level between 10p and £10 per spin.
Ted MegawaysYou can then check out the paytable via the “i” button above the spin button. The symbol values display how much you win per total stake, and the Ted logo symbol is the highest paying symbol in the game by far. It will give you 50x your stake for 6 on a payline, while the second most valuable symbol, Tami-Lynn, pays only 5x your total stake.
You can scroll through the paytable to read about the bonus features, and you can then set up the autoplay feature if you want.
This is done via the circular arrow button below the spin button, and you can choose between 10 and 100 autospins. You can also set a win and loss limit here, to stop the feature as you see fit. That’s it really, you are now ready to join your favorite teddy bear on his latest megaways adventure.Where to play Ted Megaways?

The 200 Spins Ted Megaways Experience
We are huge fans of the original Ted game, as we love the movie and the cheeky remarks from the beer drinking, chain-smoking teddy bear. We therefore had high hopes when we learned that the Megaways version was on the way. We could hardly wait to get started with our 200 spins test run of Ted Megaways slot, and here’s how it all played out.
We immediately noticed that a lot less is happening in the base game here, compared to the original medium variance slot. This is a highly volatile game, and the base game will offer up plenty of dead spins and smaller wins. It’s easy to miss all the fun antics and features from the first game, but it helps to remind yourself that you’re dealing with a completely different math model here.
You therefore need to get into this game with a very different mindset. If you just want to have fun, go for the original game, as this version is aimed at more serious gamblers. We were tempted to buy the bonus round a few times, but kept grinding along a while more instead. Suddenly we landed 3 scatters on the reels, and Ted kept repeating “come on, bring it on, come on!”
After a few cascades, we landed the 4th scatter we needed, and the bonus round was finally on with 12 spins. After a few dead spins we landed 5 cascades in a row. This helped boost up the multiplier to 5x, but we still won only 10x in total. We then upgraded the megaways to 1,000 guaranteed ways to win, and got 2 extra spins when we landed our third collectable ted symbol.
A moment later, Ted stepped in and fired his zap gun, and this gave us 75 mystery symbols added to the reelstrips. We landed only 4 of them on the next spin however, and they turned into the low value K symbol. We got a few okay wins towards the end, due to the 9x multiplier we’d manage to rack up, but won only 49.6x our stake in total. Not exactly a mega win, but this is how it can go with high risk/reward games like this.
Review Summary
We are a bit surprised that Blueprint would cut down the number of features so drastically from the original game. We get that they want it to fit into their “blueprint” for megaways engine games, but a Ted game is all about his antics and jibes, and there is significantly less of that here too. What you get with Ted Megaways is really just a reskin of Return of Kong Megaways, which is a bit disappointing.
Blueprint could have easily made this game unique and more “Ted fans friendly” by adding, for example, 3 random Ted features to the base game. This would have made the base game less of a grind also. Now you get only the standard cascading reels and mystery symbols. At least the bonus round is solid enough, however, with the possibility of payouts up to 50,000x your stake. As a standalone effort Ted Megaways is a good enough game, but it still feels a bit like a missed opportunity that lacks the charm and amusement of the first game in the series.
Pros
- Cascading wins and mystery symbols
- Free spins with unlimited progressive multiplier
- Upgradable megaways guarantee in bonus round
- High volatility and 50,000x max win potential
Cons
- Reskin of Return of Kong Megaways
- Lacking in Ted antics, charm and features

Since this is a fairly standard and streamlined megaways engine game from Blueprint, you can find many similar games to play out there. We currently have 117 megaways titles in our catalog, and below we’ll recommend a handpicked selection of games we think you’ll like if you enjoyed Ted Megaways slot.
Return of Kong Megaways - is very similar to the game at hand in terms of bonus features and math model, but naturally the theme is different. You will benefit from cascading wins and mystery symbols in the base game, as well as a bonus round with unlimited progressive multiplier and symbol collection to increase the megaways and get extra spins.
Ted - is really a must try game if you’ve only played the megaways version. This is the first game in the branded series, and it comes jam packed with 3D animated Ted antics and bonus features. There are a total of 6 reel modifying features that will trigger at random times here, as well as 5 bonus features which includes 2 different free spin rounds.
Ted Jackpot King - is really similar to the original Ted game we just talked about, but with the added benefit of 3 different jackpots. This game is part of the Jackpot King Deluxe network, and the Jackpot King is a progressive jackpot with no upper limit. A good option if you want the extra excitement the jackpots deliver, but keep in mind that the RTP has been lowered a bit to feed said jackpots.
