Zombie Carnival Review

The idea is hardly unheard of, as there are several similarly themed slots in the circus genre, but Zombie Carnival still comes across as a somewhat original theme in its execution. It’s not really as spooky as it could have been though, something the daytime setting and the caricature characters make sure of. This is more of a horror comedy than a truly scary game, and it has a lighthearted vibe hanging over it.

Pragmatic Play has done a decent job with the audiovisual presentation, but it’s not really enough to keep the base game entertaining. The mystery symbols help a bit, but they get old pretty soon, and then you’re left with the bonus round as the sole highlight of this game. It comes with zombie bear wilds that eat brain scatters, which is kind of fun, and this is how the wild multiplier increases for possible payouts up to 5,000x your stake.

Zombie Carnival Slot Features

The 4 zombie carnival characters serve as premium symbols, and they pay between 1.5 to 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins. Wild symbols step in for all regular pay symbols to help complete wins, but you get no wilds in the base game. Gift-wrapped boxes serve as mystery symbols, and they turn into a random matching symbol at the end of the spin.

Underneath it all, this is fairly standard stuff from Pragmatic Play, although the zombie circus theme makes it stand out somewhat in terms of visuals. The base game feels pretty barebones, as the mystery symbol feature is not quite enough to liven it up. The 4,096 win ways makes it theoretically possible to crack the 5,000x potential on a single spin though, so there is that.

Of course, you are more likely to close in on the win cap when the bonus round triggers, but getting more than 2 triggering scatters didn’t seem all that easy. Most of the time you will have 2 wilds move around to eat brains and increase their multiplier value, as we seldom saw an excess of scatters land during the feature. You’re bound to get plenty of extra spins most of the time though, but overall this comes across as a mediocre shelf-filler that will soon be forgotten.
