Super Boost Review
Relax Gaming and partner Electric Elephant have come with a somewhat unusual game this time, although it doesn’t look like it judging from the first impression only. Super Boost slot seems, at first glance, like one of numerous games that has been inspired by the ever-popular Starburst. However, the math model is very different indeed, but there is definitely some resemblance in the visuals and the features. This is a highly volatile beast by any measure, and the developer brags in-game of theoretical max wins up to 200,000x your stake!
That being said, this potential is as astronomical and theoretical as anything Stephen Hawking could have come up with, but it’s safe to say that big wins are definitely possible here. They will not happen in the regular base game however, as you need to climb the multiplier ladder to land anything of significance here. This is done via the cascading wins feature, which comes with a somewhat unusual twist in this game. It all plays out on 5 reels, 5 rows and 40 paylines, and you can place bets between 10p and £50 per spin across all platforms and devices.
The galactic space arcade theme is nicely done, and the soundtrack is as otherworldly as it should in a game where the symbols manifest inside glass chambers that look like some kind of intergalactic portal system. There is no elaborate bonus round to speak of here, but you will instead benefit from a single mega spin with stacked wilds whenever you land 3 cascading wins in a row. This can further boost you up the multiplier ladder, and you can land pretty massive payouts on single spin here, just as long as it escalates into an avalanche of cascading wins and mega spins.

What are the bonus features?
The game is not exactly feature rich, but there is just enough to make things interesting. First of all, you have a new and original twist on the regular cascading wins feature. Instead of just removing the winning symbols (or the non-winning symbols which is also sometimes the case), all symbols are removed from any reel that includes at least 1 winning symbol.
You therefore get a full batch of fresh symbols on these reels, and the process goes on as long as you keep winning. What’s more, you will also benefit from a progressive win multiplier that increases for every cascading win.
You can see the multiplier ladder on the left-hand side, and it goes from 1x to 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, 10x, 15x, 25x, 50x and 100x at the very top.Free spins in Super Boost
The free spins feature is also somewhat unusual in this game, and you trigger it by getting 3 cascading wins in a row. The bonus round is called a Super Boost Mega Spin (hence the game title), and it’s basically a single free spin where you will benefit from stacked wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4 (i.e. the 3 middle reels). The wilds can land as 1x5, 2x5 or 3x5 stacks, and will hopefully help you land a bigger win. The multiplier you had when triggering the feature will be applied to whatever you win from the Super Boost Mega Spin.
How to play
Electric Elephant games come with a modern and minimalistic interface, and Super Boost slot is no exception. Everything you need in terms of settings and functionality is stacked up on the right-hand side of the reels, and here we will take a closer look at all you need to know to get started with this game as soon as possible.
The sound icon down to the right allows you to turn on/off the game sound and the background music separately, and the gear icon in the top right corner opens up the paytable. You can scroll through it to read about the features, and you need to land 3 matching adjacent symbols from left to right in order to win. There are 40 fixed ways to win here, and the symbols are different colored 3D-style geometric shapes.
Not the most exciting set of symbols we’ve seen, and they don’t pay all that much either, which is to be expected in a game with such a high multiplier potential.
The royals pay 1.5x for 5 on a payline, while the premium symbols pay between 2.5x and 7.5x your stake. The game logo is the wild symbol, and it’s also the highest payer of the bunch. Land 5 of a kind of the logo wild, and it will not only step in for all the other symbols, but also pay 30x your stake.Super BoostYou can now click the chip icon to set your bet level between 10p and £50 per spin, and you can also set up the autoplay feature with between 10 and 100 autospins. You have the option to stop the autospins with different win and loss levels, and you can also choose to spin the reels manually, if you want to keep it old school.

We knew up front that Super Boost was a “hit or miss” kind of game. The claimed 200,000x max win potential didn’t seem all that realistic to us, but it still triggers certain dreams of riches in your mind. We strapped ourselves in for a bumpy ride into deep space, and crossed our fingers for a skyrocketing multiplier.
The game scores a solid 6.5 out of 10 on our unofficial “oddly satisfying” gameplay scale, as it is kind of neat to see the symbols getting stacked on top of each other. The game pace is decent enough also, but you will not get so lost in the gameplay that you stop caring if you win or lose, like the most satisfying games have a way of doing.
Things started out pretty much as we expected. The high volatility and the relatively low hit frequency gave us one dead spin after another. In fact, nothing much happened until we were well into our 200 spins session. Stacked wilds landed on 2 winning spins in a row, which almost took us into the Super Boost Mega Spin mode, but not quite. We won 28.7x our stake though, which was decent.
Again, the session kept dragging on with very little to show for, and we were close to giving up the whole thing when we suddenly were helped by the stacked logo wild once again. We really hoped to trigger the Mega Spin feature this time, but to no avail. Two lousy cascades was all we got, and this time it landed us 22.4x our stake. Not a very memorable session, but the potential is always there for massive multiplayer boosted cascading orgies.
Review Summary
The biggest issue with Super Boost slot is the fact that it gets boring real quick when nothing happens. You either strike it big here, or you land flat on your stomach. It’s a bit like attempting to ignite an old, stubborn kickstarter engine. You will get sparks flying here and there, but seldom the big spike that’s needed to fire up the damn thing.
Also, the claimed 200,000x max win potential seems like a somewhat desperate cry for attention, as if the developer doesn’t really believe the game has the power to float on it’s own. Electric Elephant got “only” 17,643x out of this game during internal testing, which is a more realistic potential that’s still solid. If you have the patience required, you can get some glorious moments in this game, but they will be as few and far between as inhabitable planets in the galaxy.
Pros
- Progressive cascading wins multiplier up to 100x
- Single free spins with stacked wilds on 1 to 3 middle reels
- High volatility and 17,643x max win potential
Cons
- Expect long periods of dead spins before anything happens

Retro Galaxy - comes with a neon-colored space arcade theme, and you’ll benefit from rolling reels which is similar to the game at hand. There is also a progressive win multiplier in play here, but it goes up to 5x only in the base game. When the bonus round comes around however, the multiplier will not reset on non-winning spins, and now it goes all the way to 15x. Wins above 7,000x is possible in this volatile game from Half Pixel Studio.
Starz Megaways - is heavily influenced by Starburst, but the megaways engine makes the 2 games into very different expressions of a similar basic concept. It comes with up to 117,649 ways to win, and you will benefit from expanding wilds in the base game. The bonus round comes with sticky wilds and the possibility of winning 10,000x your stake. A highly entertaining game it’s well worth checking out.
Starburst - had to be squeezed in here too, as it’s clearly the source of inspiration for the game at hand. This is the most popular game online ever, and a timeless classic that’s inspired countless copycats from all sorts of developers. The magical attraction comes from the dazzling audiovisuals, the positive feedback loops and the respins feature with expanding wilds on the middle reels. You can win up to 500x, which is decent for game of lower volatility.
PopRocks - is a Yggdrasil/Avatar UX title featuring their innovative PopWins mechanic. Winning symbols split their respective reel positions into 2 new positions, effectively increasing the reel set and ways to win up to 33,614. You can land payouts up to a whopping 72,188x your stake in this game, and this is done via the progressive multiplier that becomes even more lucrative in the game’s bonus round.
